Edinburgh Castle and City

After sailing from the Orkney Islands, we again made our way towards Edinburgh.  Princess ships usually visit Invergordon then Edinburgh but for this itinerary, they did the reverse.  We hired a taxi to take us into the city from South Queensferry which was interesting as we got to see the local buildings and streets on our way.

Here I am, standing at attention, in Edinburgh Castle

It was a wet, wet day but we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Castle.

During our short tour we saw many interesting views of the City.

After leaving the Castle, we made our way down the Royal Mile and eventually found a very quaint pub that seated no more than 20 people.

The locals love this pub too:

We walked into an interesting wool/textile plant on the Royal Mile where there were meters and meters of tartan being woven.

Lots to see and do in Edinburgh.  We enjoyed our day in this city and look forward to returning another time.  To return to South Queensferry, we decided to take the local train back to Dalmeny Station, the station for South Queensferry.   Easy to buy tickets, easy to board, easy to ride, and easy to walk back to the ship.
