Winter Carnival Days, University
Winter Carnival continued: great fun for a week, usually a ton of snow around, inventive people such as the Engineers, and in a day/night or two, the university acreage is covered with fabulous, interesting looking objects ie a train, statues, hockey stick etc. all created from water+snow=ice sculpture.
The highlight for many people each year was the Winter Carnival Dance--in those days, the girls went to a local town seven miles away to the local hairdresser. Updos, etc. were done. That little town was considered more 'upscale' than our university town. Driving through both towns last year I discovered that both were still very 'cute' and 'homey' towns, nothing pretentious about them at all.
Dorm life was a lot of fun. A mix of girls from all over, different interests, love lives that were on the ups one weekend and then, downs the next weekend. Studying or cramming for exams was always interesting. In our dorm, many of us headed down to the warm downstairs room, cozied up in the best chairs or sofa, and tried to absorb all the facts that we needed to pass or perhaps try to 'ace' certain subjects.
Now, what about your university days? Memories?
